Getting ready for Hallowe’en!

The gallery

And (below) our stall at a recent fair

Artichaut is the culmination of years of dreaming. Long have we both yearned for a gallery of our own and long have we needed  the space to pursue our own work. Coupled with the teaching experience built up over  the years, both with adults and children, the most natural next step was this.

So artichaut will be all of the above and more

- an educational centre for the visual arts with learners of all ages (and nationalities!)

- a showcase for the work of British craftspeople, as well as that of more local artists.

-In the future a venue for gatherings of artistically minded people.

-Other future plans also include refreshments for clients as well as cookery courses (Tim is also a trained chef).

The village of La Feuillée provides the ideal location for the centre, located as it is in an area rich in artistic history. The region has provided the inspiration for many an artist and still does to this day.

Within easy reach of Brest (approx. 40 minutes by car) and its international airport, the area is popular with tourists and gîte owners.

Therefore, if anyone wished to come over for a long period of time to enjoy several courses at artichaut as part of a holiday, we can easily arrange accommodation in local gîtes or hotels.

By the way, the name was chosen for several reasons. Apart from  the artichoke being a family food favourite, it is of course grown extensively in the region. We also felt that, with its many leaves, it perfectly reflects the many aspects that we are able to offer!
